For our last post of 2024, test your knowledge of driving in different parts of the globe with our Super-Duper Christmas Quiz.

We’re not clever enough to cover up the answers, so they are down at the bottom of the post below Santa.

Round One: Six Great Roads of the World

Just identify the country from the road name and description.

  1. The Strada Statale 163 hugs the Mediterranean, passing through colourful clifftop villages.

Round Three: World Driving Random Trivia

  1. As of 2024, the steepest paved road in the world is Ffordd Pen Llech in Harlech, Wales. What is the gradient?
    (a) 27.1 degrees (b) 29.5 degrees (c) 33.8 degrees (d) 37.5 degrees (e) 48.3 degrees
  2. Some sections of the Katy Freeway have 26 lanes (12 main lanes, 8 access roads, 6 mid-freeway lanes). In which US city would you find it?

  3. (c) Italy is the odd-one out because its citizens drive on the right. All the others drive on the left.
  4. (b) Saudi Arabia was the last country to allow women to drive, and it wasn’t until 2018.

Round Three: World Driving Random Trivia

  1. The Ffordd Pen Llech in Harlech has a gradient of (d) 37.5 degrees.
  2. The 26-lane Katy Freeway serves (e) the city of Houston
  3. The North Yungas road is often given the cheery nickname of Death Road.
  4. Antarctica is the only continent without a paved road. They do have a 995-mile packed snow road, though.
  5. From most to least dangerous roads, the countries rank like this: Zimbabwe, Russia, Austria, UK, Monaco. In fact, Zimbabwe has the world’s deadliest roads.
